Becca and Henry’s fall wedding at Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork, Montana, brought together the places and experiences they love most: Hawaii, Montana, time on the water, and a weekend surrounded by their favorite people. For us at Shannon Rose Events, the design began with their story. Every pattern, texture, and personal detail became a way to share a little more of who they are.
A Love story that started on the water
Becca and Henry’s story began at the Outrigger Canoe Club in Honolulu, just before they were both scheduled to fly back to Los Angeles. Henry was already showered and dressed for his flight when he was persuaded to join one last canoe surfing outing. One of the other people in the canoe was Becca’s dad, Rick.
The two hit it off, and before they returned to shore, Rick told Henry he had to meet his daughter.
Becca was waiting on the beach. Once introduced, she and Henry discovered they had attended the same university, lived just a block apart in Venice, and were booked on the same flight home that night. A message after landing led to their first date, right across the street from where they both lived.
That connection to the water became a thread throughout their wedding. We created wooden paddleboard escort cards as a playful nod to how their story began. Their ceremony took place right on the water, bringing that shared love into the setting of their vows.
Why They Chose Flathead Lake lodge
Montana was already one of Becca and Henry’s favorite places to travel together. They wanted their guests to experience the place they loved, with everyone staying on the property for the entire weekend.
They initially imagined a summer Montana wedding. But when a fall weekend became available at Flathead Lake Lodge, they began to see how naturally it fit them. Fall was their favorite season, and the warmth and comfort they wanted for their celebration belonged beautifully in that setting.
As we began the design process, we talked about embracing the season and giving guests a true sense of Montana. That became the starting point for a Flathead Lake Lodge wedding design rooted in the landscape, the ranch, and the couple themselves.
Why They Chose Flathead Lake lodge
Becca described her favorite spaces as cozy, welcoming, and full of character. She and Henry loved prints and patterns, warm colors, and the feeling of an authentic Montana cabin. We carried those preferences into the wedding through layers of Western patterns, varied textures, and a palette that reflected the time of year.

Hawaiian flowers in a Montana setting
As we began the design process, we talked about embracing the season and giving guests a true sense of Montana. That became the starting point for a Flathead Lake Lodge wedding design rooted in the landscape, the ranch, and the couple themselves.
Henry grew up in Hawaii, and incorporating that part of his life was an important part of making the design their own. We brought Hawaiian flowers into the arrangements, blending them with the colors and textures chosen for the Montana setting and fall season.
The floral design connected his Hawaiian roots with a place they had come to love together. It also echoed the larger story of the weekend: two people bringing their histories, interests, and favorite places into one celebration.
Equestrian details with a personal connection
Becca grew up riding horses competitively, so equestrian details had a natural place in the design. Horse motifs appeared in the invitations and continued into the reception. Each menu featured a buckle, while stirrups served as table numbers.
These touches connected Becca’s riding background with the ranch setting at Flathead Lake Lodge. Repeating that idea across the paper and tabletop details helped the design feel cohesive, with a personal reason behind each choice.
A clear top tent with caramel velvet draping
The reception took place beneath a clear top tent with caramel velvet draping. Through the transparent roof, the surrounding trees became part of the design, their autumn leaves bringing color overhead. The velvet softened the tent’s structure and framed views of the lake.
At the tent entrance, abundant flowers and trailing foliage climbed around the draped opening, creating the feeling of a garden growing into the reception. Inside, soft peach, buttery yellow, warm brown, and pale pink flowers carried the palette across the tables. The arrangements had a loose, gathered quality that suited the setting.
A dance floor full of personality
Becca and Henry were clear about one priority: they wanted everyone to have an incredible time. From our earliest conversations, they envisioned a celebration that felt carefree, warm, genuine, seamless, and fun, with guests fully present and ready to dance.
Once dancing began, we passed out mullet wigs and inflatable horses. It was a playful extension of the country setting, and guests embraced it. After a weekend together in one of the couple’s favorite places, the dance floor was the perfect way to finish.
Planning a destination wedding in Montana
Becca and Henry’s wedding is a beautiful example of how personal a destination celebration can feel. The location gave us a starting point, and their story shaped the details: wooden paddleboards, Hawaiian flowers, equestrian references, Western patterns, and a tent designed around the warmth of fall.
